Oil spill contingency plan will be implemented in Neka

TEHRAN, July 22 (MNA) – A contingency plan aimed at fighting possible oil spills at the Caspian Sea will be implemented in the port city of Bandar Neka on July 24.

The Oil Ministry, the Energy Ministry, Mazandaran Province Governorate, Fisheries Organization, Iran’s Oil Terminals Organization, Sadra Shipbuilding Co., and Shahid Salimi Power Plant will take part in the three-day exercise that is to be held in Iran’s northern province of Mazandaran, located on the southern shores of the Caspian Sea.

 

The contingency plan drawn up by Iran’s Ports and Shipping Organization (PSO) will include the modeling of oil slick movements at the sea, and preparing the effective oil spill response plan.

 

Scientific seminars and conferences on the issue aimed at enhancing the awareness of the related bodies and organizations will also be held during the exercise.
